If you follow me on social media, you might recall me coming home with 9 boxes (or 918 teabags!) of tea from the EC Meet Up event I attended in June. My tea collection has only grown since then, thanks to Five Roses Tea, who sent me an incredible tea hamper featuring an assortment of their fruit infusions tea collection. As a regular tea drinker and the girlfriend of a conventional Englishman, it was like winning the jackpot. We have ourselves an endless supply of tea, and I have inspiration for some new recipes – which I’ve dubbed my “Teapot Treats”!
This strawberry tea smoothie uses strawberry-flavoured tea to give it its distinct berry flavour. The teabags are soaked for a few minutes, then added to a mixture of sliced banana and strawberry, yoghurt, honey and rolled oats, which is then pulsed in food processor to create a thick, creamy and aromatic smoothie.
It’s my ideal breakfast or mid-afternoon snack: quick to throw together, filling enough so I won’t be snacking too soon, and bursting with flavour!
About the tea: For my strawberry tea smoothie, I used Five Roses Strawberry and Blackcurrant fruit tea as it gives the smoothie a distinct berry flavour. I wouldn’t recommend using a different flavour tea, as it would contrast with the original flavour of the smoothie.
Strawberry Tea Smoothie
- 2 Five Roses Strawberry and Blackcurrant teabags
- ¼ cup warm water
- 1 sliced banana
- ¾ cup sliced strawberries
- ¾ cup plain yoghurt
- 2 tbsp honey
- 2 tbsp rolled oats
Pour warm water into a mug and add the teabags. Allow to seep for one minute while you prepare the rest of the ingredients
Add banana, strawberries, yoghurt, honey and rolled oats to a food processor. Once the tea has soaked, discard the teabags and add the tea to the other ingredients. Pulse on medium until everything is well-combined and the smoothie is a smooth, creamy consistency
