A spiked lemon and peach iced tea that uses peach-flavoured tea and fresh fruit to get its refreshing taste
A couple of months ago, I attended the EC Meet Up event where I won 9 boxes (or 918 teabags) of Five Roses tea, only to get home and discover my goodie bag had even more boxes of tea in it! My tea collection expanded even more thanks to Five Roses, who sent me a beau-tea-ful hamper with an assortment of their fruit infusions tea collection. As a regular tea drinker and the girlfriend of a conventional Englishman, it was like winning the jackpot. We had ourselves a year’s worth supply of tea, and I had inspiration for some new recipes!
This spiked lemon and peach iced tea uses peach-flavoured tea to get its strong fruity flavour, as well as fresh slices of peach and lemon, and freshly squeezed lemon juice. The teabags are soaked in warm water for a few minutes, then lemonade, sugar, lemon juice, vodka and rum are added. Slice up some peaches and lemon, and pop them in the iced tea before leaving it to cool in the fridge for at least an hour.
It’s the perfect refreshing summer drink: fruity, flavourful, boozy, and quick to throw together! Enjoy it relaxing by the poolside, during an afternoon braai (your friends will thank you…), or getting pissed on your lonesome while reading your favourite book.
About the tea: For my spiked lemon and peach iced tea, I used Five Roses Peach and Apricot fruit tea to give the drink its distinct peachy flavour. If you wanted a stronger lemon flavour, you could use lemon tea instead, and add store-bought peach juice for some added flavour.
