A simple, tasty, healthy way to start your day – because cereal is boring and who has time for a fry-up in the middle of the week?
This peanut butter banana smoothie was the first smoothie I ever made with the fancy all-in-one blender set my dad got me for my birthday. It also happened to be the first smoothie that my boyfriend had ever had. In his life. He said it ‘confused’ him because it seems like yoghurt, and you eat yoghurt from a bowl with a spoon. You don’t drink it from a glass – like any normal person would. Well, smoothies still seem to confuse him because he’s determined to
drink eat them from a bowl (like some sort of troglodyte who never got the smoothie-memo), but he does think they’re delicious. Putting my bowl-over-glass prejudices aside, if my sweet, naive boyfriend thinks my peanut butter banana smoothie recipe is good then so will you.
This recipe is so simple to make and requires absolutely no effort – all you need is a blender. You could do it with your eyes closed, but I would suggest otherwise as that could make things tricky when it comes to the blending business. It takes less than 5 minutes out of your morning and tastes a whole lot better than the bowl of cereal you would have had instead.
Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie
- 1 banana
- 1 tbsp crunchy peanut butter
- ½ cup plain yoghurt
- ¼ cup milk
- ¼ cup rolled oats
- 1 tsp honey
- dash of ground cinnamon
Slice banana into quarters. Add all ingredients together in blender and pulse on a low speed.
If the mixture is too runny, add more oats. If it’s too thick, add a splash of milk
Pour into a glass, and garnish with sliced bananas, mixed nuts or a dash of cinnamon
